To our Volunteers

Take a vision. Wrap it in enthusiasm and throw it into the air to fall on the hearts of the people of Ingersoll and before you know it ten years will go by and the vision has not only come to fruition but has grown beyond anybody’s wildest dreams. Canterbury Folk Festival has become an important component of this town. The dream may have come from just a few but the creation came from so many, whom without compensation, gave time, energy and guidance to create an atmosphere of joy and celebration for everyone who would like to come and take pleasure in this free event. Look around at what Ingersoll has done for itself. Everyone here is part of the success of this festival. The people who set up the tents and build the fence, the performers, the person serving your beverage or the dedicated few who will be here late tonight picking up trash and cleaning the toilets… the businesses and communities who so generously provided financial support, and the crowds who are here through blistering heat, freezing cold, or even (Dare I say it?) rain… to enjoy the music, are all part of what makes this festival a special event. Without you we would not be complete, so look to your right and your left and be proud of what we have built here together!! Edward Elgar said, “My idea is that there is music in the air, music all around us; the world is full of it and you simply take as much as you require.” Well the music started ten years ago and continues for the rest of the weekend….feel free to indulge!!
